When we hit play on Ain’t Rocked In A While, it doesn’t take long for Brent Cobb to make one thing clear: he’s got something to get out of his system – and he’s injecting it straight into yours. Ain’t Rocked In A While is a burner that’s a good time from start to finish.

It’s packed with gritty rock riffs and steeps of that unmistakable southern soul we’ve come to expect from Cobb – just louder, leaner, and in your face. The way the guitars wrap around his vocals and pull you into the sonic journey that is Ain’t Rocked In A While – it hits hard. It’s welcomed with open arms, like standing up in that ’77 Firebird Trans Am, catching a body’s worth of open air through the T‐Tops as you hit overdrive on that straightaway.

This is Cobb unchained. Recorded live to tape at The Black Palace in Springfield, Missouri, with The Fixin’s – Len Clark (drums), Matt McDaniel (guitar), and Josh Williams (bass) – and co‐produced with Oran Thornton, the album brims with unpolished, raw energy. Cobb grew up on Black Sabbath, AC/DC, and Metallica, and that influence runs like a live wire through the record, driving it forward like a declaration: “This ain’t nothin’ new – I just ain’t rocked in a while.”

The back half widens the palette, slipping in a couple of slower, more reflective cuts where Cobb leans into his Americana roots. But as the saying goes – you’ve got to ease off the gas now and then if you really want to feel it when you floor it again. Songs like “In Our Hands” and “Til Dawn” bring softer edges to balance the hard‐hitting rockers.

Ain’t Rocked In A While isn’t meant to be dissected – it’s meant to be cranked. It thumps, breathes, and rolls with sweaty, live‐wire momentum. It’s still Brent Cobb to the core – rooted in southern sounds and pure country living – but now with an electric edge: a record that roars as much as it reflects.
