Soggy Anvil Records, home to musicians, artists, producers, & friends – are doing their part! At the heart of it is the space known as Back In The Garage. For years, the self-proclaimed “L.A. weirdos” have flowed in and out, recording, supporting each other, and offering a haven for wandering musicians. It’s a creative space where music & community simmer.
The Los Angeles Fire Relief Compilation is a raw, intimate collection that captures a unique sound, one born from the energy of Back In The Garage. The stripped-down, alt versions of these songs – along with the vulnerability the artists pour into them – reflect the current state of Los Angeles; a city in desperate need of healing.
The records feature three plus hours of material, from 57 artists! – it’s a dang good listen. But it goes beyond the music; it’s about the support it provides, not just to Los Angeles but directly to the artists. Some of the musicians featured have lost their homes in the fire-ravaged communities, along with family legacies & precious belongings. Now, they’re offering their songs as a way for us to give back.
A catalog of songs thats been building for years, but hearing them now, knowing the devastation that’s unfolded in recent weeks – hits differently. Some songs pull at your heartstrings, making you long for a city you may never have visited.. Others are upbeat, offering a glimmer of hope that breaks through the deep contemplation we feel when talking to close ones on the West Coast or watching the news. They lift us up & remind us that healing is possible.
