Our Time In The Sun, Jeremie Albino’s newest solo album, represents both a creative peak and a significant turning point for the Toronto-born artist. What began as a journey led by his heart – out of the city and into Prince Edward County, where country living and a decade of working on farms gave him the time and space to hone his musical skills – culminated on a Nashville stage at Americana Fest this past September, where he performed with an all-star backing band, including The Black Keys’ Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney, Nathaniel Rateliff, and Black Pumas’ Adrian Quesada. It was a remarkable moment of arrival for an artist whose blend of rock, soul, blues, and folk is as authentic as it is powerful.
The album’s creation took shape in Nashville, under the guidance of Grammy-winning producer Dan Auerbach, who discovered Albino’s music online and was captivated enough to sign him to his Easy Eye Sound label. Working with Auerbach opened new doors for Albino, who had previously found the writing process challenging. Together, the two connected over their shared love of classic soul artists like Irma Thomas, The Charmels, and George Jackson, setting the tone for the album’s rich soundscape.
Auerbach describes the Our Time In The Sun sessions as “a dream,” highlighting Albino’s ability to make everyone around him feel at ease and energized. The songs radiate that same quality, showcasing Albino’s dynamic, adaptable voice as he moves effortlessly between genres.
