The nine tracks span styles from Cajun and ragtime to old-timey, jazz and honky tonk, showcasing Thorn’s ability to fuse her varied roots into a cohesive, captivating sound.
Her vocals are undeniable – warm and unrestrained, yet sharpened by the grit of years spent on the road. Backed by an impressive cast of musicians, including Chris Scruggs (pedal steel, guitar), Dennis Crouch (bass), Jeff Taylor (keys), Chris Gelb (drums, percussion), and Nate Leath (fiddle), Thorn’s voice takes center stage. The album also features backing vocals by Kyshona Armstrong and Hannah Juanita.
