Producer Mose Wilson felt this track was essential for the album, though Hannah jokingly suggests he simply wanted a song to showcase his guitar skills. Wilson does indeed & plays much of the guitar you hear throughout the album.
From there, Tennessee Songbird takes flight into audible country bliss. The second track, “Granny’s Cutlass Supreme” – also the album’s second single – quickly became a summer anthem at Meanwhile HQ.
Recorded at the Bomb Shelter at lightning speed – in just two days; Juanita still finds moments to slow things down & show her ability to capture the tender side of a song. “Blue Moon” stands out as a softer, prime example, and is a Meanwhile in Music favorite.
